MOSCOW (MRC) -- As a result of increasing raw material prices Netherlands-based Royal DSM, a global science-based company active in health, nutrition and materials, will increase the price for its Akulon and Novamid polyamide 6 polymers and compounds, as per the company's press release.
DSM will increase prices in Europe by EUR120/tonne for polyamide polymer and by EUR85/tonne for polyamide compounds.
These increases will take effect for all orders shipped on or after April 1, 2016 where contracts allow.
While DSM continues to pursue and implement cost savings initiatives targeted at absorbing the impact of the raw material escalations, this additional increase is necessary to ensure DSM’s sustainable long-term position as leading supplier of engineering plastics.
We remind that, as MRC informed before, in May 2015, Royal DSM partnered with U.S. chemical maker Ascend Performance Materials Inc. to supply compounds based on polyamide 66 (PA66). Under the agreement, Houston, Tex.-based Ascend becomes the strategic supplier to DSM for PA66 base-polymer used as raw material for Akulon PA66 compounds for engineering plastics applications. In addition, DSM will distribute Ascend’s portfolio of PA66 compounds sold under the brand name Vydyne.
