MOSCOW (MRC) -- Netherlands-based material supplier Royal DSM is partnering with U.S. chemical maker Ascend Performance Materials Inc. to supply compounds based on polyamide 66 (PA66), said the company.
Under the agreement, Houston, Tex.-based Ascend becomes the strategic supplier to DSM for PA66 base-polymer used as raw material for Akulon PA66 compounds for engineering plastics applications. In addition, DSM will distribute Ascend’s portfolio of PA66 compounds sold under the brand name Vydyne.
In a statement, Ascend is described as one of the largest producers of PA66 resin in the world. The company makes PA66 resin at its facilities in Pensacola, Fla. – said to be the largest integrated PA66 site in the world – and in Greenwood, S.C.
"This new alliance with DSM… enormously expands our reach into applications that until now have been under-served, and it gives us better access to global customers," said Phil McDivitt, president of Ascend’s nylon business.
As MRC informed earlier, Stanyl ForTii, a high-performance polyamide, from global Life Sciences and Materials Sciences company, DSM, is being used in the frame splitters of Xiaomi Mi4.
