MOSCOW (MRC) - Imports of polypropylene (PP) into Ukraine increased to about 108,900 tonnes in first eleven months of this year, up 27% year on year, compared to the same period of 2015. The greatest increase in imports occurred for PP random copolymers, according to MRC DataScope.
November PP imports into Ukraine rose to 11,100 tonnes, compared with 9,800 tonnes in October; the main increase accounted for the supply of moulding homopolymer PP raffia grade. In general, January - November PP imports into the country increased to 108,900 tonnes against 85,700 tonnes year on year. The greatest increase in external deliveries occurred for PP random copolymers, also significantly increased imports of homopolymer PP.
Structure of PP supplies over the reported period looked as follows.
November imports of homopolymer PP into the Ukrainian market increased to 9,000 tonnes, while a month earlier this figure was 6,900 tonnes.
Local companies increased the volume of purchases of homopolymer PP raffia. Ukraine's homopolymer PP imports exceeded 83,500 tonnes in January-November 2016, against 65,600 tonnes year on year.
November imports of PP block copolymers into the country decreased to 1,100 tonnes, compared with 1,600 tonnes in October. Local companies significantly decreased in the volume of imports of injection moulding PP block copolymers. Imports of PP block copolymers into the country were about 11,200 tonnes in January-November, compared with about 9,200 tonnes year on year. The main increase in demand accounted for local pipe producers.
November imports of PP random copolymers into Ukraine decreased to 735 tonnes, compared with 1,200 tonnes in October on a weaker demand from the producers of pipes and injection moulding products. Total imports of PP random copolymers into Ukraine exceeded 11,900 tonnes in January-November, compared with 8,700 tonnes year on year. The demand in the sector of injection moulding and pressure pipes has improved.
Ukraine's imports of other propylene copolymers for the period were about 2,300 tonnes in the first eleven months of the year.
