October PP imports to Belarus reached 8,200 tonnes, which virtually corresponded to the figure of September: local companies reduced their purchasing of propylene homopolymer (homopolymer PP), having increased purchasing of polypropylene copolymers. Overall imports of propylene polymers reached 77,000 tonnes in January-October 2016, compared to 68,000 tonnes a year earlier. Injection moulding propylene copolymers accounted for the main increase in imports.
The supply structure by PP grades looked the following way over the stated period.
October imports of homopolymer PP into the Belarusian market dropped to 5,000 tonnes, whereas this figure was 5,600 tonnes a month earlier. Local companies reduced their purchasing of injection moulding homopolymer PP and homopolymer PP for the production of BOPP films. Overall imports of homopolymer PP increased to 51,900 tonnes in the first ten months of 2016, compared to 50,100 tonnes a year earlier. Russian producers, with the share of 89% of the total supply, were the key suppliers of homopolymer PP.
October imports of propylene copolymers into Belarus rose to 3,100 tonnes from 2,600 tonnes a month earlier, local converters increased their purchasing of injection moulding grades of propylene copolymers in Russia. Thus, overall imports of propylene copolymers exceeded 25,100 tonnes in January-October 2016, whereas this figure was 17,900 tonnes a year earlier. Russian producers with the share of over 84% were also the main suppliers of propylene copolymers.
