MOSCOW (MRC) -- Saudi International Petrochemical Co. (Sipchem) said that a technical problem at its unit, International Gases Co., which had disrupted operations at two other units since mid-August, had been resolved and production was back to normal, reported Reuters.
Production of acetic acid at International Acetate Co. and ethyl acetate at Sipchem Chemicals Co. is now at full capacity, Sipchem said in a statement.
The financial impact of the disruptions is estimated at USD4.6 MM, which will be reflected in Q3 results, Sipchem said.
As MRC wrote previously, on 26 July 2014, Sipchem commenced trial runs at a new ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA)/low density polyethylene (LDPE) swing plant. Located in Jubail Saudi Arabia, the plant has a production capacity of 200,000 mt/year.
Established in 1999, Saudi International Petrochemical Company (Sipchem) manufactures and markets methanol, butanediol, tetrahydrofuran, acetic acid, acetic anhydride, vinyl acetate monomer. Besides, it launched several down-stream projects to manufacture ethylene vinyl acetate, low density polyethylene, ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, cross linkable polyethylene, and semi conductive compound in 2013.
