MOSCOW (MRC) -- Denmark-based shipowner Evergas has taken delivery of its fourth multi-gas LNG carrier and has named it JS Ineos Inspiration at a ceremony at the Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering (SOE) shipyard in Qidong, China last week, reported LNG World Shipping.
At 27,500m? Evergas’ dragon-class vessels are the world’s largest multi-gas LNG-ethane carriers. The fourth in a series of eight, JS Ineos Inspiration is configured to carry either ethane or LNG and its two Wartsila 6L20DF engines can switch between ethane, LNG and conventional diesel power.
The vessel and its sisterships are classed by Bureau Veritas. Ineos will charter the vessels for transatlantic shipments of ethane from the Mariner East project under a 15-year contract, tapping a new deepsea trade out of the US.
As MRC reported earlier, in early 2013, Ineos Europe entered into 15-years shipping agreements with Evergas for the transportation of ethane into Europe from the US Mariner East project. Investment in a supply of US ethane is vital to secure the long-term competitiveness and sustainability of gas crackers that so far have relied on declining and expensive volumes from the North Sea.
Ineos Group Limited is a privately owned multinational chemicals company consisting of 15 standalone business units, headquartered in Rolle, Switzerland and with its registered office in Lyndhurst, United Kingdom.
