MOSCOW (MRC) -- Thailand's PTT Global Chemical plans to shut its No. 2 aromatics complex at Rayong, Thailand, over June-July for maintenance, a source close to the company said Tuesday, reported Apic-online.
The complex, which can produce 765,000 mt/year of paraxylene, 395,000 mt/year of benzene and 20,000 mt/year of orthoxylene, typically shuts for 45-60 days of maintenance, but the exact duration for the June-July turnaround has not been decided yet, the source explained.
No maintenance shutdown has been planned for the No. 1 aromatics complex in 2017, the source said.
The No. 1 complex has a design capacity of 540,000 mt/year of paraxylene, 307,000 mt/year of benzene and 66,000 mt/year of orthoxylene.
As MRC informed before, last year, PTTGC shut down its aromatics complex at Rayong from 29 July to early November along with an upstream reformer and condensate splitter.
PTT Global Chemical is a leading player in the petrochemical industry and owns several petrochemical facilities with a combined capacity of 8.45 million tonnes a year.
