MOSCOW (MRC) -- Nan Ya Plastics (part of Formosa Petrochemical) has shut its No. 1 monoethylene glycol (MEG) unit at Mailiao, as per Apic-online.
A Polymerupdate source in Taiwan informed that the company has halted operations at the unit on May 3, 2016 owing to a technical glitch and is likely to remain shut for a period of around 15 days.
Located in Mailiao, Taiwan, the No. 1 MEG unit has a production capacity of 360,000 mt/year.
As MRC informed previously, Nan Ya Plastics has also scheduled its No. 4 MEG production unit in Mailiao for a turnaround starting April 17. It is supposed to be shut for a month. Earlier, the No. 4 unit, with an annual capacity of 720,000 mt/year, restarted in Feb 2016 after it was shut in Dec 2015.
Before, it was scheduled that Nan Ya's MEG production units No. 1, 2 and 3, each with an annual capacity of 360,000 mt/year, should remain operational for the rest of 2016.
