MOSCOW (MRC) -- The November contract price of propylene in Europe was agreed by EUR40/tonne lower than in October. Despite the decrease in the monomer prices, European producers, on the contrary, announced an increase of export polypropylene (PP) prices the CIS countries, according to ICIS-MRC Price report.
Negotiations over November prices for European PP began on Monday. Many market participants said in many cases, local producers rose their PP prices by EUR40/tonne, despite a decline in the price of propylene.
This week's deals for November shipments of propylene homopolymer (homopolymer PP) were negotiated in the range of EUR1,030-1,100/tonne FCA, whereas a month earlier, deals were agreed upon between EUR1,010-1,060/tonne FCA. Many companies said supply of homopolymer PP of raffia grade was tight with many producers. There were producers who had suspended their export PP sales.
Deals for block copolymers of propylene (PP-block) were negotiated in the range of EUR1,110-1,160/tonne FCA, up by EUR40/tonne from October. Negotiations over November shipments of statistical copolymers of propylene (PP-random) were held in the range of EUR1,150-1,200/tonne FCA.
