MOSCOW (MRC) -- BASF SE will be offering its customers in Europe GPPS (general purpose polystyrene) from its production facility in Ludwigshafen, said BASF.
As well as utilizing it for its own needs – polystyrene is used for example for manufacturing Neopor and Styrodur – a sufficient quantity is now available following the expiry of contractual obligations for it to be supplied to customers. "BASF was the first company to begin industrial manufacturing of polystyrene. This wealth of experience guarantees that we will be a reliable partner to our customers," says Giorgio Greening, head of BASF’s global styrene foams business unit.
The range is focused on the well-known crystal-clear products polystyrene GPPS 158K and GPPS 168N. This means that, as well as the proven and very good processing properties, BASF is also able to guarantee a high level of reliability and quality consistency.
As MRC informed recently, BASF and Gazprom have completed the swap of assets with equivalent value effective at the end of September 30, 2015, financially retroactive to April 1, 2013. With the swap, BASF is further expanding its production of oil and gas and has exited the gas trading and storage business.
BASF is the leading chemical company. It produces a wide range of chemicals, for example solvents, amines, resins, glues, electronic-grade chemicals, industrial gases, basic petrochemicals and inorganic chemicals. The most important customers for this segment are the pharmaceutical, construction, textile and automotive industries.
