Tefal enjoys success in recycled plastics

(European plastics news) -- French housewares manufacturer Tefal was announced the 2010 winner of the EPRO Best Recyled Product award at the PlasticsEurope Identiplast conference in London for its Enjoy range of cook's spoons and spatulas, which are produced in 90% recycled PET.

Designed by London-based product design company Sebastian Bergne Design, the Enjoy range is manufactured in PET resin recovered from PET bottle waste, realising a 50% reduction in carbon footprint compared to virgin resin.

Designer Sebastian Bergne said the Enjoy product was designed not only to use recycled plastic but was also optimised to use as little resin as possible. It is intended to be competitive in a highly price-sensitive market without compromising on comfort or elegance.

The EPRO awards are organised by the European Association of Plastics Recycling and Recovery Organisations. Entries must be products less than three years old that are marketed in Europe and that contain at least 50% by weight of post-consumer or post-industrial recycled plastics.
